L. Michael Honaker, PhD
APA's Deputy Chief Executive Officer
L. Michael Honaker, PhD, is the deputy chief executive officer of the American Psychological Association. He is responsible for the overall management of APA's Central Office, which organizes all administrative and operational activities. He is also the executive director for staff initiatives.
Before coming to APA in 1990, Honaker was an associate professor and associate director of clinical training at the Florida Institute of Technology, School of Psychology. He was also co-founder and president of a software company for mental health professionals and worked as a private practitioner and consultant.
He has published numerous articles and book chapters and made many professional presentations in the area of computerized psychological assessment. He developed several computer-assisted assessment programs used by psychologists throughout the country, including a program designed for the Wechsler Adults Intelligence Scale.
Honaker received his doctorate in clinical psychology from the University of Alabama, where he also minored in statistics.
