The Committee on International Relations in Psychology (CIRP) seeks strong innovative proposals for its Division International Activities Grant (DIAG) Program. Consistent with its strategic priorities, CIRP will provide support for division initiated programs aimed at fostering internationalization and international members outreach. The expectation is that these grants would serve as seed funding for the development of sustained international initiatives.
Eligibility
Proposals must meet the following requirements to be considered by the CIRP selection committee:
Proposal must be submitted by at least one division of APA. Proposals submitted jointly by two or more divisions will also be accepted.
Projects that are innovative and unique with respect to other programs of APA divisions or offices will be given high priority.
The project must be completed within 12 months of receipt of funding.
The proposed budget should not exceed $500 for a one-year period.
Budget Summary (PDF, 13KB) including amount of request and matching funds template, if any.
Proposal narrative of no more than three pages that includes:
- The rationale, specific aims, proposed activities, measureable outcomes and location and time of the project.
- Statement of how the proposed activity would help achieve the goal of internationalizing the division and how this activity aligns with APA's strategic plan.
- Budget justification.
- Anticipated number of participants and their characteristics.
- Evaluation plan to assess the achievement of intended goals.
- Future plans that will build upon the proposed activity.
Proposals must be submitted via email to International Affairs with the subject line "DIAG Submission." The document should be saved as "DIAG-2013-DivisionNumber-Submission" and sent as a .pdf file.
Deadline for submission is Sept. 1, 2013.
Review Criteria
Proposals will be reviewed and evaluated using the following criteria:
Clearly stated aims and well-defined measurable outcomes.
Innovative activities.
Alignment with the goals and objectives of APA's strategic plan.
Reasonableness of budget request and budget justification. (Funds should be used to support direct project costs rather than indirect costs such as conference travel.)
Cost-effectiveness of the proposed activities.
Plans for evaluating the project.
Reports filed for past grants, if applicable.
Awards and Reporting
CIRP will give full consideration to all proposals at its fall meeting. Division applicants will be informed of the results of this competition by the end of October, and funds will be made available and sent to the division's treasurer by the end of December.
Recipients of the grants will then be required to provide a final project report — due exactly one year after the funds are received. A failure to file the report will render participating divisions ineligible to apply for future grants.
