Minority Fellowship Program Achievement Awards

These awards recognize MFP alumni who have made exceptional contributions to racial and ethnic psychology in the areas of research, public service, teaching and training, or innovations in treatment.

Awards will be presented at the APA convention during the MFP Achievement Awards, Poster Session and Social Hour. Nominations are being accepted for the following award categories:

  • Early Career Award for Distinguished Contributions

  • Dalmas A. Taylor Distinguished Contributions Award

  • James M. Jones Lifetime Achievement Award


Nominees must be alumni Minority Fellowship Program recipients with earned doctorates. Eligibility for specific award categories is based on the following years of experience after receiving a doctoral degree:

  • Early Career Award for Distinguished Contributions: five to 10 years of professional experience.

  • Dalmas A. Taylor Distinguished Contributions Award: 11 to 25 years of professional experience.

  • James M. Jones Lifetime Achievement Award: more than 25 years of professional experience.

How to Apply

MFP fellows meeting the eligibility criteria may self-nominate or be nominated by others. All individuals submitting a nomination must include:

  • Nomination form and letter.

  • Current CV.

  • Two letters of reference (may be submitted separately by the recommenders).

  • Two letters from students (only for those nominated in the Teaching and Training category).

  • Relevant publication reprints.

  • Other professional materials or commendations relevant to the award.

The submission deadlines are as follows:

  • Nomination forms and letters only — Feb. 18, 2015. 
  • Complete nomination packages — March 4, 2015.

All nomination materials must be submitted via MFP's online nomination system.
