Committee on Accreditation
Calls for Comment
The Committee on Accreditation (CoA) is in the process of making
changes to its Accreditation Operating Procedures (AOP). These changes
are being made to improve the quality of the AOP and ensure continued
compliance with the U.S. Department of Education’s standards
for recognition of accrediting agencies. Ultimately, the proposed
changes aim to improve the quality of education and training in
professional psychology.
In accordance with the APA “Policies for Accreditation Governance,”
the CoA will make the proposed changes available for a 6-month period
of public review and comment. The public comment period is scheduled
to begin in March 2004 and continue through
September 2004. In an effort to promote thoughtful discussion,
the CoA is providing an electronic-based comment form. All comments
and other information, including the users’ identity, will
be public. Additional background information, instructions for making
comment, and the comment form are available at http://www.apa.org/ed/accreditation/.
