Announcing the APA Online Psychology Laboratory (OPL)

The new Online Psychology Laboratory (OPL) became available September 1, 2005. OPL is the only online psychology laboratory with comprehensive instructional support. It features interactive experiments, data collection, and data downloads illustrating new and classic psychological phenomena. Demonstrations and activities will be added throughout the semester, so we invite you to use this new teaching resource. APA Psychology Department Program (PDP)

Last year, the Office of Precollege and Undergraduate Education (PCUE) launched the APA Psychology Department Program (PDP) to provide access to the APA’s many teaching and advising publications as well as subscriptions to APA magazines and newsletters. Brochures describing new resources and reduced rates for the program are available now. Board of Educational Affairs (BEA) Block Grants Available

To enhance the quality of teaching and learning outcomes, the Board of Educational Affairs reviews proposals for financial support to award $5,000 in BEA Block Grants each year. Additional information about the BEA Block Grants appears on the APA Education Directectorate web site at www.apa.org/ed/pcue/bea_block03.html. Funding requests for teaching conferences in 2005 should be postmarked by September 29, 2005. CRSPPP Announces Recognized Specialities

The Commission for the Recognition of Specialties and Proficiencies in Professional Psychology (CRSPPP) is pleased to announce that the Council of Representatives at its August 2005 meeting, approved and conferred continued recognition of the following specialties in professional psychology: Clinical Psychology, Clinical Child Psychology, Counseling Psychology and School Psychology. In addition, the Council of Representatives also conferred, at its August 2005 meeting, continued recognition of Biofeedback: Applied Psychophysiology as a proficiency in professional psychology. The present policies and procedures of CRSPPP require that each specialty and proficiency approved in 2005 reapply for continued recognition on or before August 2012.

The Commission for the Recognition of Specialties and Proficiencies in Professional Psychology (CRSPPP) was pleased to recommend and facilitate this process for approval and recognition. CRSPPP expresses its appreciation to each division and organization for petitioning for continued recognition.
