Division 28 - Psychopharmacology and Substance Abuse promotes teaching, research, and dissemination of information regarding the effects of drugs on behavior. Research often combines the methods of psychology and pharmacology to study the interaction of behavior, drugs, and other environmental factors in animals and humans. Psychopharmacology and substance abuse research is conducted in laboratory, clinical, and community settings. Division activities include addressing issues related to animal research, neurobehavioral toxicology, psychopharmacology training programs, development of new treatments for drug addiction, and public policy related to medication regulation and substance abuse.
