Donald K. Freedheim Student Development Award

Enter the Annual Division of Psychotherapy Student Competitions

The Donald K. Freedheim Student Development Award (one of the three student paper competitions the APA Division of Psychotherapy offers) is for the best paper on psychotherapy theory, practice or research.

What are the benefits to you?

Cash prize of $100 for the winner of each contest.

Enhance your curriculum vitae and gain national recognition.

Plaque presented at the Division 29 Awards Ceremony at the annual meeting of the American Psychological Association in August.

Abstract will be published in the Psychotherapy Bulletin, the official publication of the Division of Psychotherapy.

How do you apply for the competition?

Submit three copies of your paper, in APA style, not to exceed 25 pages in length (including tables, figures, and reference).

Specify which of the three competitions you are entering.

What are the requirements?

Papers must be based on work conducted by the first author during his/her graduate studies. Papers can be based on (but are not restricted to) Master's thesis or doctoral dissertation. All papers must be unpublished manuscripts, and in case of multiple authorship, one award will be given.

Please include a title page on a separate sheet of paper so that the papers can be judged "blind."

The cover letter should warrant that the paper is based on work that the first author conducted while in graduate school. It should also include your mailing address, telephone number and e-mail address.
