Center for Psychology in Schools and Education Coalition Gathers
The CPSE Coalition gathered in December for their twice yearly meeting to discuss current and upcoming projects and initiatives. The Coalition is made up of psychologists, representing APA divisions and affiliated group, interested in issues surrounding teaching and learning and to promote the Coalition’s mission of applying psychological science to teacher development, children and schools. Current projects include an online module directed towards new teachers providing an overview of stress and strategies for coping with stress, a module for teachers on incorporating social-emotional learning in the classroom, and a grant submitted to the National Science Foundation for the development of a series of modules, each highlighting a psychological concept and student individual differences as pertains to teaching 3rd grade science. Projects under development include an online resource on creativity in the classroom and a model for inter-professional training in schools. Notes from the meeting can be found on the Coalition page.
