APA announces new journals and new editors

Divisions and sections have new APA journals and new journal editors in 2014.

APA will begin publishing the new journals Qualitative Psychology and Psychology of Sexual Orientation and Gender Diversity in 2014. 

Qualitative Psychology is a biannual journal that will provide a forum for innovative methodological, theoretical and empirical work that advances qualitative inquiry in psychology. The editorial team is now accepting submissions. 

Qualitative Psychology is the official journal of the Society for Qualitative Inquiry in Psychology, a section of Div. 5 (Evaluation, Measurement and Statistics).

The journal’s inaugural editor is Ruthellen Josselson, PhD, of Fielding Graduate University.

Members of Div. 44 (Society for the Psychological Study of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Issues), will begin to receive the division’s new quarterly journal, Psychology of Sexual Orientation and Gender Diversity, in 2014. 

The editor and editorial board are gearing up for the first issue. The journal’s submission portal is open, and is already receiving manuscripts. 

The founding editor is John C. Gonsiorek, PhD, ABPP.

Gerianne Alexander, PhD, associate dean of research and professor of psychology, Texas A&M University, has been named as the new editor of the Review of General Psychology, the journal of Div. 1 (Society for General Psychology). Find more about Alexander and more about the journal online.
