William J. Strickland

Biography

William J. (Bill) Strickland, PhD, is president and CEO of the Human Resources Research Organization (HumRRO) in Alexandria, Virginia. Previously he served 10 years as vice-president, directing its Workforce Analysis and Training Systems Division. This followed a 26-year career in the United States Air Force, where he retired as a colonel. In his last military assignment, he directed all human resources research for the Air Force, where he was responsible for research in the areas of manpower and personnel, education and training, simulation and training devices and logistics. Earlier in his Air Force career, he held positions as a behavioral scientist in the Air Education and Training Command and chief of research within the Office of Institutional Research at the Air Force Academy. Strickland serves on the APA Board of Directors, is a Fellow of APA, and past president of its Division of Military Psychology. He has represented APA seven times in personally testifying before committees of the United States Senate and House of Representatives. He is currently a member of the National Research Council's Committee on FAA Systems Specialists Staffing Standards.
