Support Mental Health Month Resolution [H.R. 1258]

Action Alert!

Dear Colleagues,

A resolution expressing support for designation of May 2010 as Mental Health Month has been introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives. This resolution, introduced by Rep. Grace Napolitano (D-CA), co-chair of the Congressional Mental Health Caucus, seeks to raise awareness about mental health and well-being as a critical issue affecting communities, families and economic stability, as well as recognize that mental well-being is as important as physical well-being for citizens, communities and businesses in the United States.

More specifically, the resolution identifies the wide range of U.S. citizens suffering from mental illness and encourages all organizations and health practitioners to use Mental Health Month as an opportunity to promote mental well-being and awareness, ensure access to appropriate services and support overall quality of life for those living with mental illness.

House Resolution 1258 was introduced on April 15, 2010, and as of April 27, 2010, it has 58 co-sponsors. Increasing the amount of co-sponsors and expressing your appreciation if your Representative has already co-sponsored this resolution is important, so please contact your Representative today.
