The President’s fiscal year 2009 budget contains few surprises in the area of education funding. As in years past, his proposed budget eliminates a significant number of smaller categorical programs that are of interest to APA members. President Bush proposes modest increases in other larger formula grant program including Title I (Education for the Disadvantaged), Pell grants and IDEA.

Education GRO staff will work across directorates to fight to restore funds to important programs like the Elementary and Secondary School Counseling Program, Gifted and Talented education, Teacher Quality, Alcohol Abuse Reduction and others.
