Committee on Ethnic Minority Affairs advocates for Minority Fellowship Program

Dr. Kevin Cokley with Cassie Holman in Representative Michael McCaul's (R-TX) district officeAs part of a Coordinated Advocacy Campaign administered by APA’s Public Interest Government Relations Office (PI-GRO), members of APA’s Committee on Ethnic Minority Affairs (CEMA) participated in one-on-one visits at the district offices of their local members of Congress to advocate for the Minority Fellowship Program (MFP). Specifically, CEMA members asked their representatives to protect funding for MFP which is the only federal program with funding for training mental health professionals to work with racial and ethnic minorities. Prior to the visits CEMA members received advocacy training and preparation from PI-GRO staff.
