APA Engages Psychologists on Key Federal Legislative Issues
At this year’s APA Convention, staff from the Public Interest Government Relations Office (PI-GRO) circulated fliers asking attendees to contact their members of Congress and urge them to:
Support the Student Non-Discrimination Act, which would provide federal protections for students that experience harassment or bullying based on their actual or perceived sexual orientation or gender identity
Reauthorize the Violence Against Women Act in the most inclusive way possible
Maintain current funding levels for the Minority Fellowship Program
Ratify the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities
PI-GRO will continue to monitor and encourage the progress of these initiatives in Congress.
