APA Joins With National Partners to Advocate for Funding to Address Violence Against Women

APA, in coalition with The National Task Force to End Sexual and Domestic Violence Against Women, has submitted a letter to Congress advocating for the appropriation of funds for two key pieces of legislation designed to address and reduce gender-based violence. In coalition with this task force, APA supports the appropriation of funding for the newly reauthorized Violence Against Women Act (VAWA), as well as funding for the Family Violence Prevention and Services Act (FVPSA). This funding will support the provision of numerous services and prevention efforts, including the Violence Against Women Health Initiative, the Preventive Health and Health Services Block Grant, grants to strengthen the criminal and civil justice response to violence against women, services for sexual assault survivors, prevention efforts targeting youth, and transitional housing for victims of domestic and sexual violence. These examples are only a subset of the programs this critical funding will support in order to prevent future violence, as well as provide key resources to victims and survivors.
