June 2011 Policy Update
May was Mental Health Month, and APA’s Public Interest Government Relations Office (PI-GRO) engaged in advocacy on several fronts, including:
Supporting an APA expert member in her role in the National Children’s Mental Health Awareness Day legislative briefing;
Securing opportunities for APA members to testify before Congress on American Indian mascots and on federal support for the Indian Health Service; and
Providing background information to the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights for a briefing they held on civil rights and bullying and school violence.
