APA Supports Paid Family Medical Leave

Legislation aims to create federal insurance fund for partial income compensation

APA signed on with other national organizations to support the Family and Medical Insurance Leave Act (FAMILY Act) (S. 1810/H.R. 3712), introduced by Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, D-N.Y., and Rep. Rosa DeLauro, D-Conn. The FAMILY Act seeks to create a national family and medical leave insurance program to provide partial income for up to 12 weeks of medical leave for a serious health condition (including pregnancy, childbirth or adoption of a child) or to care for a child, parent, spouse or domestic partner experiencing a serious health condition. This advocacy effort builds on APA efforts to support family caregivers in federal policies.
