When the Senate Appropriations Committee marked up the legislation to fund the Departments of Health, Human Services and Education for Fiscal Year 2009, it also published a report containing explanatory language pertinent to the funding allocations.

House Passes Bill to Give FDA Regulatory Authority Over Tobacco

On July 30, the House of Representatives, by an overwhelming majority, approved legislation granting the Food and Drug Administration authority to regulate tobacco products (H.R. 1108).
