APA science co-hosts Capitol Hill reception honoring veterans research

VA staff honored veterans and award-winning VA intramural researchers
APA is an active member of the Friends of VA Medical Care and Health Research (FOVA) Coalition executive committee, and served as a co-host of the May 4 Capitol Hill reception in support of the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) research program. A number of VA staff, including the VA Chief Research and Development Officer, Joel Kupersmith, MD, were on hand to honor veterans and award-winning VA intramural researchers. Stephen Cochran, a country music singer and Marine Corps Special Forces veteran of Iraq and Afghanistan, spoke openly about his own Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and Traumatic Brain Injury diagnoses and how VA clinicians and researchers have made an extraordinary difference in his recovery. Rep. Paul Broun (R-GA) spoke at the reception, reaffirming his commitment to VA research and medical care.
