APA’s Summer Science Fellows visit Capitol Hill

The fellows spent the morning at APA headquarters, then visited the Hill for a U.S. Capitol tour, followed by a meeting in the afternoon with APA Congressional Fellow Dr. Tiffany Griffin
On July 6, APA’s Summer Science Fellows, a group of twelve talented undergraduate students selected to work for six weeks in psychology laboratories at George Mason University, visited D.C. for “Policy Day.” The fellows spent the morning at APA headquarters, where they heard from senior staff about science government relations at APA, federal support for psychological science and the important role of scientists as advocates for their field. The fellows then visited the Hill for a U.S. Capitol tour, followed by a meeting in the afternoon with APA Congressional Fellow Dr. Tiffany Griffin, who works in the Office of Senator Jeff Bingaman, D-N.M. Fellows learned about Dr. Griffin’s career path and asked questions about her experience working as a scientist on the Hill. For more information, visit APA’s Summer Science Fellowship website.
