PCORI accepting applications for new advisory panels

The four new advisory panels will help advance PCORI's research in the areas of addressing disparities; assessment of prevention, diagnosis and treatment options; improving health-care systems; and patient engagement.

The Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) has issued a call for applications to serve on four new advisory panels that will help advance the institute's research in the areas of addressing disparities (PDF, 87KB); assessment of prevention, diagnosis and treatment options (PDF, 84KB); improving health-care systems (PDF, 86KB); and patient engagement (PDF, 85KB). The panels will provide recommendations to the PCORI board of governors, methodology committee and staff to help model full and meaningful patient and stakeholder engagement efforts and refine and prioritize specific research questions. The panels will have 12 to 21 members each including patients, caregivers, clinicians, researchers and other health care stakeholders. Any individual interested in serving on an advisory panel is eligible to apply. Applications are due next week on Monday, March 4 by 5 p.m. EST and must be submitted online on the PCORI website. Additionally, APA will be nominating psychologists for the panels. The PCORI board of governors is also considering the establishment of future additional advisory panels, on the topics of communications and dissemination research, randomized clinical trials, infrastructure and rare diseases.
