PCORI convenes workgroup on obesity treatment options in diverse populations

The all-day meeting included a session for identification and prioritization of key research questions for an upcoming targeted funding announcement.

On April 16, the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) convened an ad hoc multi-stakeholder workgroup on obesity treatment options in diverse populations, identified by the institute as a high-priority topic area for research funding, to provide input on which critical near-term research questions should be included in the institute’s targeted funding announcement. The all-day meeting included presentations by patients, stakeholders and researchers, as well as a session for identification and prioritization of key research questions. Participants included APA member Rena Wing, professor of psychiatry and human behavior at Brown University and director of the Weight Control & Diabetes Research Center at Miriam Hospital in Providence, R.I. Visit PCORI’s website for the archived webinar, presentation slides, full participant biographies and the list of workgroup questions.
