APA debuts online science advocacy training

Web-based training proves to be effective.

On Oct. 18, staff of the American Psychological Assocation’s Science Government Relations Office conducted their first online advocacy training for an enthusiastic graduate student policy class at Georgia State University. Having previously led in person trainings in Washington, D.C., and at a variety of APA-affiliated and other scientific meetings around the country, APA staff were pleased to find online training, using a web-based conference platform, to be an effective alternative. Georgia State students and faculty plan to put the skills and talking points from the session to use by meeting with their congressman at his district office on behalf of psychological science.
