How to Join APA

Student affiliates get many benefits of full membership, including the Monitor on Psychology, American Psychologist and gradPSYCH — the magazine for graduate students, special services, and substantial discounts on APA products, including APA's premiere line of electronic databases. There are two ways students can join APA:

  • Student affiliate: Graduate and undergraduate students can become Student Affiliates of APA. Graduate students also receive membership in APAGS, the national organization representing graduate students in psychology.

  • High school student affiliate. As a high school student affiliate, you can find out what it's like to be a psychologist, read about psychology in the APA's monthly magazine, and find ways to get involved.

And there's no special requirement to join. If you're a student studying psychology and want to join, you're in! So discover the benefits of being part of the premier organization in psychology.

APAGS: The voice of student concerns within APA

APAGS offers its members enormous opportunities to enhance their development toward a career in psychology and to shape the future of the discipline. From at-home access to research tools such as PsycINFO, to opportunities to present your work at APA's annual conventions, membership in APA/APAGS will help you succeed in graduate school and develop as a member of the psychological community.

APA Style

The rules of APA Style, detailed in the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association, offer sound guidance for writing with simplicity, power, and concision. APA Style has been adapted by many disciplines and is used by writers around the world.
