Campus Representatives (CRs) are the heart and soul of the
APAGS-Advocacy Coordinating Team (ACT) and form a network of students from each university
through which APAGS communicates with graduate students across the country. APAGS-ACT was
designed to educate students about federal and state legislative issues that affect
students and the profession of psychology. Through CRs, APAGS-ACT maintains an active
grassroots legislative advocacy network that engages in legislative efforts on behalf of
the science and practice of psychology, in the interest of students studying, researching,
and practicing psychology, and on behalf of individuals who receive psychological
services.
Each CR is the point person for his or her university, not only
disseminating information relevant to graduate students, but also voicing the collective
concerns of graduate students to APAGS about training, educational, clinical, and research
activities. CRs often work with local and state psychological
associations in order to increase professional development of students. Essentially, CRs
are the advocates for the students of his or her university.
So be sure to make contact with your Campus Representative. If your
university does not have one, then please consider applying for this prestigious position.
If you are interested in becoming a Campus Rep for your university, please send a brief
statement (350 words or less) describing your interest in serving as a CR to APAGS .
