Apply for a Leadership Position on APAGS

Develop leadership skills, represent student concerns and advocate nationally for psychology by serving on the APAGS Committee. APAGS members, who are actively enrolled as graduate psychology students in good standing, are eligible to run for the following elected positions, which begin in August 2013:
Three positions are appointed, to serve as chairs of one of the APAGS subcommittees:

Eligibility
A masters or doctoral candidate in good standing in an APA or regionally accredited program (Candidates who are at least two years from graduation are strongly preferred and one year from graduation is required).
An APAGS member.
Organized, responsive, efficient and responsible.
Able to work effectively and cooperatively with others.
Willing to commit to a busy two-year term to work on behalf of the needs and interests of APAGS and APAGS members.
For subcommittee chair positions, you must demonstrate specific knowledge, expertise and/or experience in the substantive area of the respective subcommittee to which you are applying to lead as chair.
Application Materials
1. Read and sign the APAGS committee application agreement (PDF, 34KB).
2. Submit:
An abbreviated two page CV.
A candidate statement describing your qualifications and/or potential for the particular position (300 words or less for chair and member at large positions; 750 words or less for subcommittee chair positions).
A brief letter from your department chair verifying your status as a graduate student in good standing and the chair’s support of the student running for an APAGS office.
Please note that if you are selected to run, your candidate statement as chair or member at large, will appear online and will be sent to voting members of APAGS.

Deadline: Jan. 14, 2013 by 5:00 p.m. (EST). You may submit your application by email. Please note that all applications must be received in the APAGS Office by this date and time.
