Workshops and Sessions

Nuts and Bolts of Private Practice

You may have learned to be a therapist, but chances are you haven't yet learned how to run a business. Gain strategies to build a private practice from start, with topics from business plans and marketing to insurance and liability.

Loan Forgiveness Options

The average student debt can feel like a mortgage. In this session, you will learn about several programs — such as the National Health Service Corps, Public Service Loan Forgiveness, and NIH Loan Repayment — that help get Sallie Mae off your back.

Power of Advocacy

You may have heard that 22 doctoral interns hired by the State of New York narrowly avoided layoffs in late 2011 (at the beginning of their internship year). Learn more about how advocacy by students and psychologists can be effective.

42 and YOU: Independent Practice

Learn more about Division 42: The Community for Psychologists in Independent Practice. This is a great division for students who are interested in learning more about becoming a private practitioner, through resources at convention, access to mentoring, and other activities.

What APAGS is Doing for You

In this session, we'll tell you how we've been representing the voice of students at APA, on Capitol Hill, and in graduate programs around the world. We'll take your questions and comments, invite you to apply for APAGS leadership positions, and give out several great prizes.

By Attending, You Will Also Receive

  • Continental breakfast, coffee, and snacks from 9:30 - 9:45 a.m.

  • Raffle prizes and giveaways

  • The chance to network with other graduate students and professionals
