Welcome from the APF President

I want to let you all know that although the stock market has taken a toll on APF as it has for other foundations, we are still strong and working to ensure our continued stability and ultimate growth.

As stewards of your generous gifts, we have taken steps to reduce operating expenses, including cutting certain publications, meetings, and mailings.  On the other hand, we have barely curtailed our funding for programming as a result of the economy: four $25,000 Koppitz fellowships instead of five, two $25,000 Rosen scholarships instead of three, and we have reduced the budget for the precollege grant from $30,000 to $20,000.  All our other grants, scholarships and other programs are continuing as they have in the past.  In 2008, APF provided more than $700,000 in scholarships, grants and other awards—funding which makes an impact on people’s everyday lives.

Our overall financial footing is sound, and we expect to recuperate along with the rest of the economy.

Most important, our donors have continued to contribute, and we want to thank you for ensuring our stability and ability to make a difference in the world.  Support is crucial in this time when psychology is needed across so many domains.

With difficult economic times, comes opportunity, so we are taking this time to examine what we do, plan even more wisely, and look to the future with optimism and discipline to continue to improve what we do.

If you have any questions, please contact us.
