Violence Prevention and Intervention Grant

APF is targeting its 2008 Violence Prevention and Intervention Grant toward programs that aim to reduce hate crimes by using psychological science and principals to eliminate the root causes of these types of behaviors.

Hate crimes target victims because of their race, religion, sexual orientation, disability, ethnicity, nationality, age, gender, gender identity, or political affiliation. Hate crimes are meant to cause fear and intimidation in an entire group or class of people.

Amount: Up to $20,000.

Goals:

  • To encourage the transfer of psychological science with regard to violence, its prevention, and intervention strategies to applications within the community;
  • To support the implementation of innovative community programs aimed at preventing violence.
