Welcome to the companion Web site for Beyond Significance Testing: Reforming Data Analysis Methods in Behavioral Research. The purpose of this site is to enhance and complement the concepts and skills explained in the book. You may also want to view the first printing errata to the book (PDF: 223KB).
The chapter exercises (PDF: 169KB) cover basic statistical concepts and effect size estimation. These problems are directly related to concepts presented in the chapters.
The supplemental chapter (PDF: 263KB) is about effect size estimation in multivariate designs, because only univariate designs were covered in the book. (This is an advanced topic, so this material would be suitable only for more advanced readers.)
The downloadable datasets are from samples I have collected. They will allow you to reproduce some of the analyses discussed in the book.
Instructors will find the class notes helpful as they help plan for their class discussions. They can also be used as overhead slides that can be presented with Adobe Acrobat Reader, which is freely available over the Internet. Students will find the same class notes helpful in their review of the concepts and skills.
Finally, I have included links to other related Web sites, including ones with free (shareware) tools for constructing confidence intervals for effect sizes and related types of data analyses. I hope this material assists you in developing your knowledge about alternative data analysis methods.
