Description
This intermediate workshop provides an overview of 10 practical steps for integrating multicultural considerations with cognitive behavior therapy (CBT). Learn how to inspire clients with the Personal Strengths Inventory, avoid the most dangerous CBT mistake of premature cognitive restructuring, and use culturally responsive strategies for thought change including Compassion Voice, Attitude of Gratitude, Wise Elder, Most Generous Interpretation and the Magic 3-Step Technique with kids.
Learning Objectives
1. Create a Personal Strengths Inventory that recognizes cultural strengths and supports.
2. Avoid the biggest CBT mistake by considering oppressive and supportive environmental influences.
3. Describe at least three strategies for making cognitive restructuring more culturally responsive.
4. Apply the Smallest Step Question to create culturally responsive homework.
