Description
Workshop 145 is part of Dr. Barry Anton’s Presidential Programming.

This workshop presents an opportunity to grow the influence of the psychology profession and improve population health. Owing to the novelty of integrating behavioral health providers into primary care, there is a shortage of clinicians, administrators, policymakers, and educators who understand how to make integration work. This introductory workshop provides a comprehensive overview of integration. Content is practical; focused on the theory, practice, and resources for making integration work; and should prove equally helpful to any experience level.
Learning Objectives
1. Identify why the integration of behavioral health into primary care is necessary.
2. Summarize the key components of successful integration.
3. Utilize brief clinical interventions for a wide variety of problems with both adult and pediatric primary care patients.
4. Recognize and analyze common ethical issues that occur in integrated primary care.
5. Recruit, train, and supervise behavioral health providers for an integrated primary care setting.
6. Identify financial strategies for making integrated primary care feasible.
7. Design a clinical pathway to improve population-based care in a primary care clinic.
