A Message From Division 1

Welcome!

The Society—Division 1 of General Psychology is the first of the 50 plus divisions of the American Psychological Association. With the reorganization of APA in 1945, divisions were formed and our Division One was established to embrace general psychologists and those that cross the boundaries of our various sub disciplines. Our Society also hopes to bring back all of the specialists in various aspects of behavior to the basics and to those laws that pertain to all of psychology.

We are concerned with all aspects of psychology, and we address broad issues that transcend  psychology's subfields. These include:

If you are not a member of Division 1, we invite you to join us. Members receive our Review of General Psychology quarterly and our bi-annual newsletter, The General Psychologist,  as well as a discount on our distinguished Pioneers in Psychology book series. Our members are an outstanding group of psychologists who welcome you to our Division. We are academics, researchers, practitioners, those committed to the public interest and various combinations of these categories. We represent a broad range of interests and a commitment to see the "Big Picture” by looking through psychology's multiple lenses.
