BUD ORGEL AWARD FOR DISTINGUISHED ACHIEVEMENT IN RESEARCH:

Nominees for the Research Award should be outstanding psychologists who work in and contribute to the

advancement of research and scholarship in medical school and health care settings.

IVAN MENSH AWARD FOR DISTINGUISHED ACHIEVEMENT IN TEACHING:

Nominees for the Teaching Award should be outstanding psychologists who work in and conduct

innovative teaching and training in medical school and health care settings.

2008 Award Recipients

The Association of Psychologists in Academic Health Settings is pleased to announce the recipients of the 2008 APAHC Distinguished Achievement Awards. These two individuals were chosen from among the many highly qualified nominees.

The Award Committee selected Dr. JAMES BRAY for the Distinguished Achievement Award in Research.

For the Distinguished Achievement Award in Teaching the Award Committee selected Dr. SCOTT MEIT.

Call for Nominations

Nominees need not be current members of APAHC, but those making the nominations must be current APAHC members. Nominations should be in the form of a 1-2 page letter sent in the body of an Email message, or as an email attachment Only one letter will be accepted.  The detailed nominating statement must provide reasons in support of the nomination.  Nominators should inform nominees that their names are being submitted.  An electronic copy of the nominee’s CV must also be submitted. Email nominating messages and nominees’ CVs should be sent to Richard Handel, Chair, 2009 APAHC Awards Committee at handelrw@evms.edu.

APAHC members are encouraged to submit nominations as soon as possible.  The deadline for receipt of nominations is May 15th, 2009.  The awards will be presented at the Division 12 Award Ceremony at the 2009 APA convention in Toronto.  Members of the 2009 APAHC Awards Committee are Rick Handel (Chair), Ron Brown, and John Robinson.
