The Society of Pediatric Psychology

Founded in 1968, the Society of Pediatric Psychology (SPP) provides a forum for professionals interested in health care for children and their families. The field of pediatric psychology is defined by the concerns of psychologists and allied professionals who work in interdiciplinary settings such as children's hospitals, developmental clinics, pediatric or medical group practices, as well as traditional clinical child or academic arenas. We focus on the rapidly expanding roll of behavorial medicine and health psychology in the care of children and their families. As Section 5 of Division 12 (Clinical Psychology) of the American Psychological Association (APA), we provide a forum for research and practice presentations at the annual APA convention. Annual awards for student research and distinguished professional contributions are part of the Society's program. In addition, regional meetings are held each year to facilitate local networking.
