The Society of Pediatric Psychology
Founded in 1968, the Society of Pediatric Psychology (SPP) provides a forum for scientists and professionals interested in the health care of children, adolescents and their families. The field of pediatirc psychology is defined by the concerns of psychologists and allied professionals who work in interdiciplinary settings such as children's hospitals, developmental clinics, pediatric or medical group practices, as well as traditional clinical child or academic arenas. We focus on the rapidly expanding roll of behavorial medicine and health psychology in the care of children, adolescents and their families. As section 5 of division 12 (Clinical Psychology) of the American Psychological Association (APA), we provide an annual forum for research and practice presentations at the annual APA convention. Annual awards for student research and distinguished professional contributions are part of the Society's program. In addition, regional mettings are held each year to facilitate communication about research and practice issues, as well as local networking.
