The ECO Conference is a unique forum organized by and designed

CONFERENCE THEME
One Step Further: Research as an Instrument for Social
Change
Over the past three decades, the field of community psychology
has both diversified and become more interdisciplinary.
What started from a small group of psychologists at the
Swampscott conference 40 years ago has grown into a discipline
with over 20 graduate programs in the U.S. and principles
that are recognized internationally.
The 2005 Midwest ECO conference represents a chance for
discourse and reflection on the use of community research
and social intervention research as a means to enact social
change. The theme of this year's conference focuses on using
research in public policy and action. As in previous ECO
conferences, proposals representing a diverse number of
current student research and interests will be accepted
for presentations. We encourage presenters to develop links
between their current research and paths toward social action
and change within the field of Ecological-Community Psychology.
The format of the conference will include roundtables and
discussions addressing current issues and controversies
in community psychology research, education, and careers
which will be facilitated by senior level community psychologists
in addition to traditional conference presentations.
