How to Join the Society of Psychological Hypnosis - Division 30 of the American Psychological Association (APA):
Who is eligible to join Division 30?
The following people are eligible to become Members of Division 30:
- Members of APA
- International Affiliates of APA
- Doctoral-level psychologists (Ph.D., Psy.D., Ed.D., or the equivalent) who are eligible to become Members or International Affiliates of APA
- Any individual not otherwise qualifying for membership in Division 30 but who has made exceptional contributions to the field of hypnosis and is sponsored for full membership by a current Member or Fellow of Division 30, subject to final approval of the Executive Committee of Division 30
The following people are eligible to become Associates of Division 30:
- Associate Members of APA
- Anyone who is eligible to become an Associate Member of APA (i.e. holds a Master's degree in psychology or the equivalent)
- Any individual not otherwise qualifying for Membership or Associate Membership in Division 30 but who is licensed to practice psychology by a state, province or country
The following people are eligible to become Student Affiliates of Division 30:
- Any individual eligible to become a Student Affiliate of APA, who is taking courses in psychology and has a scientific or professional interest in hypnosis as attested to by a faculty member of the college or university in which the student is enrolled.
* PLEASE NOTE *
Associate Members and Student Affiliates of Division 30 may not hold elected office in the Division but may attend and participate in meetings and receive all publications of the Division. Similarly, Student Affiliates may not vote in Division 30 elections or referenda; however, all those who have been Associate Members of either APA or Division 30 for at least five years may vote in Division 30 elections or referenda.
I'm eligible to join Division 30; how do I do it?
To Become a Member of Division 30:
- Members and Fellows of APA: By postal mail, send your name, preferred mailing address, APA identification number (the eight-digit number on your APA identification card), a statement identifying that you are a Member or Fellow of the APA, and a check for $18.00 (US; $21.00 for applicants living outside of the United States) made out to "APA - Div. 30", to the current Chair of the Member Services Committee of Division 30.
- International Affiliates of APA: By postal mail, send your name, preferred mailing address, APA identification number (the eight-digit number on your APA identification card), a statement identifying that you are an International Affiliate of the APA, and a check for $21.00 (US) made out to "APA - Div. 30", to the current Chair of the Member Services Committee of Division 30.
- Psychologists who are eligible to be Members or International Affiliates of APA: By postal mail, send your name, preferred mailing address, a photocopy of your diploma, and a check for $18.00 (US; $21.00 for applicants living outside of the United States) made out to "APA - Div. 30", to the current Chair of the Member Services Committee of Division 30.
- Individuals who are not otherwise eligible to be Members, Associates, or Student Affiliates of Division 30: By postal mail, send your name, preferred mailing address, a statement of the contributions that you have made to the field of hypnosis that you feel qualify you for Membership in Division 30, and a letter of sponsorship from a current full Member or Fellow of the Division confirming your accomplishments and supporting your candidacy, to the current Chair of the Membership Committee of Division 30. The Member Services Chair will in turn distribute these documents to the Executive Committee of the Division for approval of your candidacy. If approved, you will be contacted to inform you of your acceptance into the Division and to request payment of the current membership dues ($18.00 US; $21.00 for applicants living outside of the United States ).

To Become an Associate Member of Division 30:
- Associate Members of APA: By postal mail, send your name, preferred mailing address, APA identification number (the eight-digit number on your APA identification card), a statement that you are an Associate of the APA, and a check for $18.00 (US; $21.00 for applicants living outside of the US) made out to "APA - Div. 30", to the current Chair of the Member Services Committee of Division 30 (see the mailing address above).
- Persons who are eligible to be Associate Members of APA: By postal mail, send your name, preferred mailing address, a photocopy of your diploma, and a check for $18.00 (US; $21.00 for applicants living outside of the US) made out to "APA - Div. 30", to the current Chair of the Member Services Committee of Division 30 (see the mailing address above).
- Persons who are not otherwise eligible to be Members or Associate Members of Division 30 but who are licensed to practice psychology: By postal mail, send your name, preferred mailing address, a photocopy of your license to practice psychology, and a check for $18.00 (US; $21.00 for applicants living outside of the US) made out to "APA - Div. 30", to the current Chair of the Member Services Committee of Division 30 (see the mailing address above).
To Become a Student Affiliate of Division 30:
- Student Affiliates of APA: By postal mail, send your name, preferred mailing address, APA identification number (the eight-digit number on your APA identification card), a statement that you are a Student Affiliate of the APA, and a check for $6.00 (US; $9.00 for applicants living outside of the US) made out to "APA - Div. 30", to the current Chair of the Member Services Committee of Division 30 (see the mailing address above).
- Students who are not Student Affiliates of APA: By postal mail, send your name, preferred mailing address, the name of the college or university at which you take courses in psychology, a signed statement from a faculty member at your college or university affirming that you take courses in psychology there and have a scientific or professional interest in hypnosis, and a check for $6.00 (US; $9.00 for applicants living outside of the US) made out to "APA - Div. 30", to the current Chair of the Member Services Committee of Division 30 (see the mailing address above).
I'm not eligible to join Division 30; how can I subscribe to the Bulletin ?
If you live in the United States :
Send your name, address, and a check for $18.00 made out to "APA - Div. 30" to the current Chair of the Member Services Committee. At this time, the Member Services Chair is:
