The
Humanistic Psychologist
Dear Colleagues,
The Humanistic
Psychologist is at an important transition point. A triple
issue on the "Art of Psychotherapy" currently is at
the printer and should be in the mail to you by mid-March. We
also have special issues in the pipeline on Humanistic Assessment
and Transpersonal Psychology, as well as special sections coming
forth on topics like Humanistic Psychology and terrorism. In other
words, the journal is well on its way to being caught up and I
continue to stand by my pledge to you to have the journal completely
current by the end of my term as President.
Beginning
with the 2001 triple issue, the editorship of our journal is switching
hands. I have appointed Arthur Lyons as Interim Editor of the
journal (through December 31, 2002). I chose Art because I could
think of no one better qualified to lead the journal through the
next few months. Art has served Division 32 ably and well for
many years. He was absolutely phenomenal through two terms as
Division Treasurer. He also was the driving force behind
getting the Division's Sydney Jourard Student Research Award program
started and has actively maintained it to this day. He has been
an invaluable colleague as a Member-at-Large of the Executive
Committee this year. I have complete confidence in Art's dedication
and professionalism and I have every expectation that The Humanistic
Psychologist will be completely caught up by the time a new
editor takes over January 1, 2003. President-elect Franz Epting
will appoint this new editor in August, based upon the recommendation
of the Publication Editor Search Committee that I appointed last
August.
In the meantime,
The Humanistic Psychologist is ready to receive and review
your manuscripts under new editorship. I would urge you to submit
papers that you are proud of and think deserve to be published
in a first class journal. Should you submit a paper for review,
Art and I promise that you will be notified of its receipt by
return mail. We also will make sure that timely reviews are done
and that these reviews are back to you with an editorial decision
letter. The details for submission of manuscripts can be found
on the back cover of this issue. Please submit any manuscripts
to Art Lyons, Interim Editor, The Humanistic Psychologist,
Department of Psychology, Moravian College, Bethlehem, PA 18018.
In closing,
I would like to note that Chris Aanstoos will stay listed as the
Founding Editor of our journal on the inside cover. Chris labored
long and hard for the journal, often doing heroic work to get
it out under tight deadlines and a limited budget. He is, in many
ways, responsible for what The Humanistic Psychologist has
become.
