The Mary Roth Walsh
Teaching the Psychology of Women Award

The Mary Roth Walsh Teaching the Psychology of Women Award is an award sponsored by Div. 35 Society for the Psychology of Women in honor of the late Mary Roth Walsh. Dr. Walsh was the founder of the Teaching the Psychology of Women Institute (begun in 1988), the author of several texts, and a committed teacher devoted to promoting the psychology of women. This award is designed to encourage junior faculty teaching the psychology of women or gender course.

We particularly want to encourage teaching innovations. We are looking for individuals who have devised a creative approach, exercise, or assignment for increasing diversity in teaching the psychology of women or gender. Diversity includes, but is not limited to, race, class, ethnicity, sexual orientation, and ablebodiedness.

Who is eligible

All junior faculty who are members of the Society for the Psychology of Women (or whose application for membership is currently being submitted) are eligible.

Certificates of recognition will be presented at the next meeting of the APA in August. Letters will be sent to department heads at that time as well.
