Receive the Division 37 newsletter, the Child, Youth, & Family
Services Advocate, which describes current and upcoming activities
within the Division and includes articles on a range of topics relevant
to service delivery and public policy (e.g., prevention programs and
treatment of violent juvenile offenders)
- May sign up for the Division 37 listserv and receive updates on public
policy issues and suggestions for advocacy efforts

New members receive free membership in the division
for one year. Membership dues for students are only
$17. Join now by filling out an application. Click here for

I. STUDENT DISSERTATION AWARD
Student Dissertation Award
This $400.00 award
is given to a completed doctoral dissertation that focuses on issues
related to social policy, service delivery, welfare, and/or advocacy
for children, youth and families. Papers are judged on the following
5 dimensions:
- Scientific, technical, or clinical importance
- Originality/creativity of work
- Adequacy of research design and methods
- Quality of conclusions
- Overall quality of written presentation
To apply, students should
submit their completed, approved dissertation electronically along with
an electronic copy of the signed cover sheet. Applicants must be members
of the Division to apply. The deadline for submissions is June 1.
Dissertations completed within the previous 12 months are eligible.
Please send 1 hard copy and 1 electronic copy of all the materials
to the current Past-President of Division 37 (for current
past-president, see:
position
holders page).
II. STUDENT POSTER AWARD
Student Poster Award
Graduate students who are first authors on a poster presented at the
APA Convention are eligible for the Student Poster Awards. These
are decided upon and awarded directly at the Convention by the Award
Committee. Typically 2-4 awards are given, with at least one by
the Section focusing on child maltreatment. A $50 check
accompanies the award.

forum to learn about upcoming division awards and APA conference programming
as well as a chance to interact with the professionals in our field. Funding
opportunities, including those directed to students, are also routinely
