Early Career Psychologist Network (ECPN)
The APA Committee on Early Career Psychologists (CECP) invites your Executive Committee to appoint an Early Career Representative to the Early Career Psychologist Network (ECPN). The ECPN is a forum to:
| |
Discuss priorities and programming ideas |
| |
Share strategies to increase recruitment, retention, and involvement of ECPs |
| |
in professional associations |
| |
Provide feedback on CECP initiatives and activities |
| |
Foster collaboration between APA Divisions and State, Provincial and |
| |
and Territorial Psychological Associations (SPTAs) |
| |
Disseminate information about opportunities and resources for early career psychologists |
Representatives will be added to the CECP mailing list and signed up for the ECPN discussion list with other early career psychologist from APA Divisions and SPTAs.
All representatives must be APA members who have received their psychology doctorate within the last 7 years.
To facilitate communication, ensure active participation, and underscore the importance of ECPs to your association, CECP recommends that ECPN representatives:
| |
Serve a two-year term on the ECPN, preferably to begin and end in January in order to |
| |
cycle for CECP, and most Boards and Committees within |
| |
APA, Divisions, and SPTAs. |
| |
Serve as ECP representative and voting member on your executive board. |
| |
Clearly discuss and delineate responsibilities to the board and to the ECPN. This will help |
| |
Representatives differentiate between his or her role within your association and as a |
| |
representative to the ECPN. |
| |
Discuss the frequency and nature of information the representative should report to the |
| |
Executive Committee about activities and ideas from the ECPN. |
| |
Attend the APA Convention to participate in special ECPN programming. CECP encourages |
| |
funding for ECPN members to attend the APA Convention as the |
| |
ECP representative from your executive board. |
