Important Accreditation Dates

April 15: Annual Report Online opens for all accredited programs to complete

May 1: Self-study reports due from programs to be site visited in Fall 2009 cycle

May 8: Third-party comment on programs to be site visited in Fall 2009 cycle submitted to OPCA

May 28-30: 2009 Accreditation Assembly— San Diego, CA

June 1: Annual fees invoiced for internship and postdoctoral programs

July 16-19: Commission on Accreditation Summer Program Review Meeting

July 27-31: Appeal panel hearing dates

August 1 : Annual fees invoiced for doctoral programs

September 1: Self-study reports due from programs to be site visited in Winter 2010 cycle

September 8: Third-party comment on programs to be site visited in Winter 2010 cycle submitted to OPCA

September 15: Annual Report Online deadline for all accredited programs

November 5-8: Commission on Accreditation Fall Program Review Meeting

Upcoming Accreditation Workshops!

The CoA and Office of Program Consultation and Accreditation are planning several site visitor and self-study workshops for 2009. In addition to the following workshops, several others may be added to the schedule. Be sure to review the workshop information page for updates on these and newly added workshops.

Unless otherwise noted, accreditation workshops are open to anyone and not restricted to conference attendees.

To register for any of these workshops, send an e-mail to Kristen Thompson in the Office of Program Consultation and Accreditation. Site visitor workshops require submission of your current CV.

Site Visitor Workshops:

  • No cost to participants for attending.
  • Required of new visitors to be eligible to conduct accreditation site visits. R eview the criteria for being a site visitor.
  • Open to new site visitors or experienced site visitors. Experienced visitors should attend the workshop at least every 5 years.
  • Participants receive 7.5 CE credits, and the Office of Program Consultation and Accreditation pays the CE credit fees for each participant.
  • There is especially a need in the site visitor pool for generalists (psychologists in areas other than clinical, counseling, and school).
  • The CoA makes a special effort to ensure diversity among site visitors. Therefore, the Commission strongly encourages the nomination of women and members of underrepresented groups.

Self-Study Workshops:

  • No cost to participants for attending.
  • Open to anyone interested in learning more about the Accreditation Guidelines and Principles.
  • May be especially helpful to those who will be submitting self-studies for their programs in the near future.
  • No CE credits offered for this workshop.

*This program has been reviewed and approved by the APA Office of Continuing Education and the APA Continuing Education Committee.  The APA Continuing Education Committee maintains responsibility for the content of the program.  You must attend entire training to receive CE credit.
