Introduction

Welcome to this edition of CoA Communications! This online newsletter is intended to inform you of actions taken during the latest Committee on Accreditation (CoA) meeting and other important issues. CoA Communications is disseminated electronically to accreditation constituent groups and audiences. At its July 2004 meeting, the Committee reviewed 64 programs. Currently there are 866 accredited programs, including 368 doctoral programs, 465 internship programs, and 33 postdoctoral programs.

We hope that you find this newsletter informative, and encourage you to contact the Office of Program Consultation and Accreditation with any questions or concerns at apaaccred, or (202) 336-5979. On behalf of the Committee on Accreditation, thank you for your continued commitment to psychology education and training through accreditation.

Footnote 4 Public Comment

Based upon public comment, the Committee voted in July to require all programs to indicate in the Self-Studies whether or not they are invoking Footnote 4.

We are pleased to congratulate the following newly accredited programs:

Doctoral Programs
• University of Missouri - Kansas City (Clinical)
• University of North Texas Health Sciences Center Consortium (Clinical)
• Ponce School of Medicine (Clinical PsyD)

Internships
• Dallas Metropolitan Consortium
• Jewish Children's Bureau - Northbrook, IL
• Milton Hershey School
• VAMHCS/University of Maryland-Baltimore Internship Consortium

Postdoctoral Residencies
• Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Palo Alto - CA

The official listing of all accredited doctoral programs is available in the December edition of the American Psychologist. An electronic list is also available (doctoral, intern), but that listing is for informational purposes only and should not be used for official credential review.

In addition to program review, the Committee regularly reviews policies and procedures. Specifically, the Committee reviews and develops implementing regulations, which provide references as appropriate to language in the Guidelines and Principles (G&P) and the Accreditation Operating Procedures.
