Introduction

We are pleased to bring you the first 2008 edition of CoA Communications! This online newsletter is intended to inform you of actions taken during the Spring Commission on Accreditation (CoA) meeting and to provide other important information.

The CoA reviewed 75 programs during its April 3-6, 2008 meeting. As of May 6, 2008 there are 898 accredited programs, including 377 doctoral programs, 472 internship programs, and 49 postdoctoral programs.

Congratulations to the Following Newly Accredited Doctoral Programs!

• University of Colorado at Colorado Springs (Clinical PhD) • Duquesne University (School PhD)
• St. John’s University (School PsyD)
• Wisconsin School of Professional Psychology (Clinical PsyD)
• Argosy University, Orange County Campus (Clinical PsyD)

The official listing of all accredited programs is available in the December edition of the American Psychologist. An electronic list is also available (doctoral, intern), but that listing is for informational purposes only and should not be used for official credential review.

New CoA Structure

The 21-member Committee on Accreditation became the new 32-member Commission on Accreditation effective January 1, 2008.

We are delighted to welcome 19 new members to the CoA: Howard Berenbaum, Ray Crossman, Rod Goodyear, David Hess, Donna Horn, Elizabeth Klonoff, Linda Knauss, David McIntosh, Kathie Nichols, Carlton Parks, Ruperto Perez, Roger Peterson, Deborah Richardson, Brad Roper, Rick Seime, Ken Sher, Rick Short, Wayne Siegel, and Judith Watkins.

Accreditation Assembly
The 2008 Accreditation Assembly will be held May 30-31, 2008 in Minneapolis, MN. We hope to see many accreditation constituents there. We plan to provide video recordings of selected Assembly sessions and copies of presentations (as available) on our website for those who are unable to attend.

The CoA hopes the Accreditation Assembly will offer constituents the opportunity to provide input into the current Guidelines and Principles.
