Changes to Guidelines and Principles for Accreditation of Programs in Professional Psychology and Accreditation Operating Procedures
In addition
to program review, the Committee regularly reviews and develops implementing regulations, which provide references as appropriate to language in the Guidelines and Principles (G&P) and the Accreditation Operating Procedures. At its October 2004 meeting, the Committee revised Implementing Regulations C-11 (a) (Accreditation Process for Post Doctoral Residencies) and D7-1 through D7-5 (Confidentiality and Public Disclosure of Information), as well as approved D2-4 (Policy on Scheduling Site Visits).

Changes to the G&P and Operating Procedures
The Committee on Accreditation (CoA) is proposing the elimination of the phrase “emerging substantive areas” from the scope of accreditation section that pertains to doctoral programs in the current Guidelines & Principles. Comments and reactions from all interested individuals and organizations are requested.
We have extended the comment period until April 20, 2005 in order to accommodate those communities of interest who hold their meetings in late winter/early spring, and who may wish to provide comment at that time. In an effort to promote thoughtful discussion, the CoA is providing an electronic-based comment form for public review and submission of all comments. If you wish to participate in this process, please visit our website at http://apaoutside.apa.org/accredsurvey/public/.
