Changes to
Guidelines and Principles for Accreditation of
Programs in Professional Psychology and Accreditation
Operating Procedures
The Committee on Accreditation (CoA) has made two changes to its Accreditation Operating Procedures and Guidelines and Principles for Accreditation of Programs in Professional Psychology (G&P). These changes are being made to improve the quality of the Operating Procedures and G&P, and hence to improve the quality of education and training in professional psychology.
1. The first change extends the maximum interval between postdoctoral residency program site visits from 5 years to 7 years (concurrent with doctoral
and internship maximums).
Section 4.4 (Site Visit Interval)/Accreditation
Operating Procedures: At the time of making
an accreditation decision, the CoA will also decide
the year in which to schedule the program's next
periodic review. For all accredited programs, a
period ranging from 3 to 7 years between site visits
may be designated, depending upon the program's
stage of development.
