Online Annual Reports - DUE by September 15, 2002
It is again the time of the year for all accredited programs to submit annual report information. Since 1998, all accredited programs, regardless of whether they submitted a self-study report and/or are scheduled for a site visit during the year, are required to complete annual reports. The Committee on Accreditation (CoA) uses this information to update its files and provide current and comprehensive information on all accredited programs. Further, these annual updates are required by the U.S. Department of Education.

Beginning this year, the CoA introduced an online version of the annual report that is designed to provide program directors with a standard database for tracking individuals within their program. Recognizing that the format of the online annual report is new and a majority of the data is now collected at the individual level, the Accreditation Office and the CoA offered program directors the option of either completing the traditional annual report or the new online version for this year only. Collecting data at the individual level means that program directors will be completing an individual online form for each student and faculty person in the program. Though we think there will ultimately be distinct advantages, it may be more time consuming the first time around. However, program directors are encouraged to try the online version as all accredited programs will be required to submit their data via the internet beginning with the 2003 Annual Report. There are several advantages to using an online Annual Report format over the previously used paper format. Specifically, we are trying to make the online Annual Report as user-friendly, confidential and secure, easily accessible, and convenient as possible. Please refer to the Reference Manual for detailed descriptions of the advantages to using an online Annual Report (available at http://www.apa.org/ed/accreditation).

New Publications
In July 2002, the APA Office of Program Consultation and Accreditation produced and disseminated the 2001 Annual Report of the Committee on Accreditation (CoA). This publication is an accounting of the CoA actions for 2001. It highlights important data, new policy statements, and articles written by Committee members and staff. To request a copy, please email, or phone (202)336-5979.
