Endorsement of geropsychology as a specialty

New substantive specialty practice area endorsed for postdoctoral-level training.

Consistent with CoA's provisions for accreditation of postdoctoral residency training programs as described by IR C-11(b) (PDF, 402KB): Postdoctoral Residency Substantive Specialty Practice Areas, the Commission endorsed geropsychology as a specialty area. Geropsychology now joins the existing endorsed postdoctoral specialty practice areas of:

  • Behavioral and cognitive psychology

  • Clinical child psychology

  • Clinical health psychology

  • Family psychology

  • Forensic psychology

  • Rehabilitation psychology

As a reminder, "substantive specialty practice areas" are only relevant to postdoctoral residency training programs and are not applicable to the doctoral or internship levels of training.
