Research Information from Annual Report Submissions

The following tables represent preliminary statistics from accredited doctoral and internship programs who submitted Annual Reports.

New Research Reports

The APA Center for Psychology Workforce Analysis and Research (CPWAR) has recently conducted two new accreditation surveys. In the first survey, various businesses that employ psychologists, psychology credentialing boards, and organizations that represent education and training in psychology were asked to rate the importance of hiring or credentialing psychologists that come from doctoral, internship, or postdoctoral programs that meet specific characteristics/domains.

The second survey asked directors of training from accredited doctoral, internship, and postdoctoral programs in professional psychology to rate the clarity and relevance of the Guidelines and Principles for Accreditation of Programs in Professional Psychology (G&P). External Requests for Research

As stated in Implementing Regulation E1-3(a) (Use of Data and Research Personnel Resources), when a request for additional research is approved by the CoA, the aggregate results of such analyses will be made available to the public through the internet.

Below are research requests that have been completed by the Accreditation Office.

(1) The Office of Graduate and Postgraduate Education & Training Programs of the APA Education Directorate requested additional data regarding the number of APA-accredited internship programs and the total number of interns for each region throughout the U.S. in 2006.

(2) The Office of International Affairs of APA requested a summary of the numbers and distribution of international students in graduate programs in psychology.
